Overview
Surgical Technologists are essential members of the surgical team, working under the direct supervision of a surgeon. They play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient conduct of surgical procedures. Their responsibilities include:
- Preparing the Operating Room: Setting up sterile surgical instruments, equipment, supplies, and medications.
- Verifying Equipment: Ensuring all equipment is in place and functioning properly.
- Assisting the Surgeon: Donning personal protective equipment (PPE), transporting patients, positioning and draping patients, preparing the skin, and providing intraoperative assistance.
- Possessing Essential Knowledge: Understanding medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical instruments, infection control, and effective communication.
This program provides a comprehensive introduction to the surgical technologist profession, encompassing the role of the Surgical Technologist, medical terminology, infection control, surgical equipment, and the keys to quality patient care.
